t was here in Cana that Jesus began his public mission, performing his first miracle. Jesus and his disciples were invited to a wedding and when the wine was depleted, he turned water into wine.
The church in Cana is built with two towers symbolizing a couple, and a round dome in the center that represents the nucleus of the family. It was also here in Cana that Jesus performed the miracle of healing the official’s son who was lying sick in Capernaum. The residence of Nathanael was also in Cana.
John 1:45-50
Philip found Nathanael and said to him, ‘We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, the one about whom the prophets wrote,' Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth.’' 'From Nazareth?’ said Nathanael ‘Can anything good come from that place?’ ‘Come and see’ replied Philip. When Jesus saw Nathanael coming he said of him, ‘There is an Israelite who deserves the name, incapable of deceit.’ 'How do you know me?' ‘asked Nathanael. 'Before Philip came to call you,’ said Jesus ‘I saw you under the fig tree.’  Nathanael answered, ‘Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are the king of Israel.’ Jesus replied, ‘You believe that just because I said: I saw you under the fig tree. You are going to see greater things than that.’ And then he added, ‘In all truth I tell you, you will see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending over the Son of man.’

he first miracle: John 2:1-10

On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited, and they ran out of wine, since the wine provided for the feast had all been used, and the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’ Jesus said, ‘Woman, what do you want from me? My hour has not come yet.’ His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’ There were six stone water jars standing there, meant for the ablutions that are customary among the Jews: each could hold twenty or thirty gallons.

Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water’, and they filled them to the brim. Then he said to them ‘Draw some out now and take it to the president of the feast.’ They did this; the president tasted the water; and it had turned into wine. Having no idea where it came from-though the servants who had drawn the water knew-the president of the feast called the bridegroom and said, ‘Everyone serves good wine first and the worse wine when the guests are well wined; but you have kept the best wine till now.’
