Introduction Print version

city of extremes, of unshakable conviction and growth. Its rhythm contains a never-ending cycle of progress and destruction. This is where the pealing of church bells mingles with the chanting of synagogue prayers and the cries of the muezzin calling the faithful to the mosques. Jerusalem – the holiest of holy cities for Jews, Christians and Muslims alike, all of whom rub shoulders in its narrow streets. Through the ages it has been given many names: Urusalim, Salem, Mount Moriah, Adonai Urah, Jebus, Jerusalem, Zion, the City of David, Ariel (Lion of God). God has declared that this is where He will establish His Name and here He shall dwell eternally.
Pilgrims from all nations continue to flock to the Holy City and millions of people flow through the gates of Jerusalem each year.

city that embraces 3,000 years of history, from the era of King David to the present day, a city of countless fascinating facets.

A city whose breathtaking views and colorful people have been recorded in the annals of so many enthralled visitors, and whose unique and pervasive aura of sanctity is indelibly embedded in their memories.
